Monday kicked off by a flood of "signings." The quotes are madden nfl 23 coins important because we're currently in an legal tampering period during which agreements can be reached but they won't be finalized until Wednesday at noon.
It's the most ridiculous part that's on this Madden NFL 23 calendar. No one can explain in detail the reasoning behind the 48-hour period, particularly when everyone knows teams are discussing deals with agents at the combine. But"nudge, nudge and wink* that's absolutely not the case, is it?
In addition, we've seen several major deals signed, and I'm here to feel it necessary to talk about Jax Jaguars of Jacksonville. Honestly, I've been struggling to express my feelings about the day. On the one hand, the Jags have the highest value in free agency and it was time to ease the purse strings and acquire some players, but on the other they ran into Monday like the shore-leap sailor and spent more than $50M on cap space in order to sign or sign, or re-sign six players.
I'm not entirely sure what to think about this. The topic has been bouncing around in my head all through the day. On one hand, I am awed by this team of players and I know they'll make the Jaguars better but on the flip side, I wish that Jacksonville could spread the affection a bit further in order to upgrade their players' positions.
The biggest criticism is going turn out to be Christian Kirk, I get that. The contract is in part a huge leap of faith that he'll become an established No. 1 receiver, but also that a team as bad as Jacksonville has to spend more money to attract big-name free agents. The structure of the deal is actually very fair, and shouldn't hinder the team's long-term success even if the gamble does not pay off.
I think my issue that has been a problem with Jaguars' free agencies of the past, is that they went for a quality over quantity approach when this franchise really needs numbers. It's not Kirk but it's Kirk AND Scherff AND Olukun and Fatukasi. This now leaves the Jaguars with around $10 million in Space (give some or even take). I would have liked to see the team go at two of these potential players, and try to pick the best players at the same price that the other.
In many ways this feels like free agency 2017 and that's not the best thing. The Jaguars were also spending a lot in signing Calais Campbell, A.J. Bouye, Barry Church and traded for Branden Albert. At the time they were considered to be the "big winning team," but even though they went from 3-13 to 10-6 immediately, they then crashed back on the floor because they weren't able to get the depth.
My wish is that this won't happen again. I just wish when the Jaguars have worked hard to gain this kind of cap room, they didn't be so reckless and act as if they're two or three pieces closer to winning as a cellar dweller having to make progress slowly. It's hard to say whether Jacksonville has a chance to be a madden 23 coins cheap champion or even a loss yet- more that I'm just anxious.
